Welcome to LASMI.org.

"So", you may be asking yourself, "what exactly is this 'LASMI' (pronounced laa-z-mee, with the "a" sound like that in "apple") I've been hearing so much about in the local media and through word of mouth from my friends and associates who consider themselves 'in the know'."

Well, I'll tell you. "LASMI" is actually an acronym for "the Lake Area Society for the Moving Image!"

"So", you may be continuing to inquire, "what exactly is "the Lake Area Society for the Moving Image?"

A fair question. The short answer is that LASMI is a loose association of folks in the Lake of the Ozarks area who share an interest in making movies. The long answer, along with a little history and a look toward the future can be found by clicking this link and reading the so-called "LASMI Manifesto."

If you read the manifesto you already know that we're taking LASMI in a new, much more active, direction. So, if you've attended a meeting in the past and been disappointed, come check us out again, we've learned from our mistakes. And if you've never heard of us before, come on in.

We feel that our primary, original flaw was being too passive. The group was set up as more of a networking opportunity than anything, and nothing really got accomplished. In fact, in the last few months we've made more progress and opened up more potential opportunities than we did in our whole first year. Click here to see what we've got coming up, and get involved!

LASMI is designed to be very inclusive. To make movies you need a lot of different talents, so we know you have something to contribute. This organization will not work without the enthusiastic input of our community. So, if you've ever thought it would be fun or interesting to work on a movie, get involved! The more passionate you are, the better, but no experience is necessary. Check this site, to get updates on what's happening, when it's happening, and what you can do to be a part of it.
